Abstract:
| Sales rebate contract has been studied in the supply chain management literature for some years. It has been shown to be an effective strategy for achieving channel coordination, and it has been applied extensively in the real world (e.g, the push money scheme in fashion retailing). In this paper, we explore this contract with a mean-variance analysis. By incorporating the risk preferences of individual supply chain members into the model, we investigate the conditions under which a sales rebate contract can achieve channel coordination. Managerial insights are developed. |

Biography:
| Dr. Chun-Hung Chiu received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (SEEM) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2004. After graduation, he taught as an instructor in SEEM for two years. Currently he is a research associate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests mainly focus on supply chain management and financial engineering. |
