Abstract:
　

In this talk, I\'ll present a new approach of mining frequent itemsets from a transactional data stream. This hash-based approach with a structure of fixed size skillfully summarizes the information of the whole data stream.
It also provides a technique to estimate the support counts of the non-frequent itemsets, and keeps only the frequent itemsets for speeding up the mining process. As a result, the goal of enhancing memory space utilization can be achieved.

Biography:
　

Arbee L.P. Chen received a Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from the University of Southern California in 1984. He is currently Dean of the College of Science and Chair Professor of Computer Science at National Chengchi University, Taiwan. He was a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Communications Research, New Jersey, and a Research Scientist at Unisys, California. Dr. Chen organized the 1995 IEEE Data Engineering Conference in Taiwan, and served as a program co-chair of the 2008 IEEE Data Engineering Conference at Cancun, Maxico. Dr. Chen has published over 180 papers in renowned international journals and conference proceedings. He was a visiting scholar at Kyoto University, 1999, Stanford University, 2003-2005, King\'s College London, 2005, and Boston University, 2009.
