Abstract:

This special seminar will consist of a one hour presentation and demonstration of the AIMMS modeling tool followed by a 1 1/2 hour tutorial session.
AIMMS is an advanced modeling system for building optimization-based decision support applications. It is used by leading companies to support decision making in a wide range of industries in areas such as supply chain management, production planning, logistics, forestry planning and risk-, revenue- and asset- management.
The presentation will consist of a basic introduction of the modeling system AIMMS and the company that has developed AIMMS, Paragon Decision Technology. We will give a global overview of the model representation, the graphical user interface, the solver and algorithmic capabilities, and the available functionality to interface with other software. The presentation will contain two demonstrations, first how to build a small transport model in AIMMS, and second how to use more advanced algorithmic capabilities in AIMMS to solve a cutting stock model.
The tutorial takes the participants through all the steps necessary to build a transport model, including data input, building of a user interface page for input and output, and executing what-if runs.
