CU FOREX
is a trilingual hotline for real-time foreign exchange
enquiries, developed by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, in
partnership with SpeechWorks International Ltd. and IVRS International
Ltd.
Special features of the system include:
- Trilinguality - the system support Cantonese, English and Putonghua simultaneously on a single phone line
- Real-time Information - exchange rates and deposit interest rates
captured directly from our own Reuters satellite feed
- Directed Dialog Interaction - callers receive step-by-step
guidance about what to say when during an enquiry session. The system
also has confirmation capability when the speech recognizer is
uncertain, for example, the system can say,
"I think you said British Pound, is that correct? Please say yes or
no."
- Natural Language Shortcuts - the system can also handle full
questions in either English or Cantonese, for example, the user can
say,
"I would like the exchange rates between the US Dollar and the HK Dollar."
- Meta Commands - callers can barge in
with following commands at any time during the call:
- Help - provide more detailed help instructions
- Repeat - repeat what the system had just said
- Start Again - start over from the main menu
- Change Language - switch to the other language and start again
from the main menu
- Goodbye- leave the system
