1. Call for Invited Session Proposals (10th Dec, 2020)

The Congress is now calling for proposals of invited sessions.

An invited session should be organized by one or two organizers, which generally consists of five presentations. A single organizer cannot be the organizer/co-organizer of more than 2 invited sessions. Session proposals in which most of the speakers come from the same institution are discouraged.

The organizer(s) should submit a session proposal (visit here for the submission guideline) by the same deadline as the contributed talk submission. The following information should be provided in the proposal:

All the session proposals are subject to screening and acceptance by the Scientific Committee.

2. Passing of Prof. Duan Li

We announce with profound sorrow that Professor Duan Li, one of the organizers of the BFS Congress Hong Kong and a member of its Scientific Committee, passed away on Monday, November 16, at the age of 68. A dear friend and colleague, he inspired us both professionally and personally. He made significant contributions to many fields including mathematical finance/financial engineering, optimal control and integer programming. He was a true gentleman, scholar, teacher and professional, and a dedicated and tireless worker.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Duan's family and friends. An obituary page can be found at this website.

4. Further Postponement of Congress and Submission/Registration Deadlines (24th June, 2020)

We have never dared to expect that organizing the 11th Bachelier World Congress would be such a long and bumpy journey. Here we are again: due to the high uncertainty of the COVID-19 dynamics and the high risk of traveling and gathering into the end of this year, the Executive Committee of the Bachelier Finance Society together with the local organizers have decided to postpone the Bachelier World Congress for another year to Dec 13-17, 2021 in Hong Kong. Accordingly, the abstract submission deadline will be extended to June 30, 2021. The deadlines for various tiers of registration fees will also be postponed with the rates unchanged (see here for details).

Submissions and/or registrations that have already been made are automatically valid for the new dates. For those who have paid registration fees and are no longer able to participate in the Congress due to this change of dates, please send an email with the subject of "registration fee refund" to bfs2020.hk@gmail.com to request refunds. Paper withdrawal can be done via the function of withdraw provided by the submission system. Should you have any inquiries about this change, please contact us at bfs2020.hk@gmail.com.

We will, as the saying goes, come out the other side stronger, and so will Bachelier Hong Kong!

Please refer to this link for the guideline of application. Note that the deadline is 8th Mar 2020.

11. Presenting Authors (29th Dec, 2019)

In this Congress each participant can only present once, although the same person can be coauthor of multiple papers submitted.

Please indicate in your submission the name of the presenting author in the case of multiple authors. For the papers that have already been submitted, we assume that the submitting author is the presenting one. If it is not the case, please send an email to bfs2020.hk@gmail.com to declare the name of the presenting author.

12. Change of Venue (23rd Dec, 2019)

We are happy to announce that the venue of 2020 Bachelier Congress Hong Kong will be moved to Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong, an elegant hotel in Discovery Bay. Discovery Bay is a residential area inhabited mostly by expats in HK, quiet and otherworldly, surrounded by ocean. The area has not been affected by any demonstrations in the past and in our assessment it won't be affected in the future. The hotel is a 20-minute taxi ride or a 30-minute bus ride from Hong Kong International Airport, and 15-minute taxi ride from the Disneyland. It is just a 25-minute ferry ride from downtown Central, while shuttle bus rides from Sunny Bay or Tung Chung MTR Stations take 15-20 minutes.

The hotel will block a number of hotel rooms for our participants with special rates. Other hotels in the vicinity will also be arranged and shuttle bus provided between those hotels and Auberge.

We are also pleased to extend the paper submission deadline to January 31, 2020. However, deadlines for various tiers of registration fees will remain unchanged (see here).

Happy holidays and we look forward to welcoming you all in Hong Kong!

Nan Chen, Duan Li, Xunyu Zhou,
Organizers of the 2020 Bachelier Hong Kong

13. About Hong Kong Situation (10th Oct, 2019)

Everybody is of course concerned about recent demonstrations in Hong Kong and its influence on the BFS World Congress in June 2020. We plan to frequently update the situation via newsletters and the Congress homepage. We can confirm that so far the demonstrations have not affected the daily activities in academia, and expect the situation will have been gradually stabilized by the time the Congress takes place. In the unlikely event that the current venue is not optimal anymore alternative venues in the Hong Kong vicinity areas have been identified.
